Landscape Design

We believe landscape design should complement the architecture of the house as well as the natural site and surrounding environment. We focus on quality spaces that are both beautiful and functional with well thought out planting schemes and quality materials.

What ever the space we can design and build a garden to suit your needs.

Our Process

Our design process from conception to your competed landscape consists of 4 stages:

Stage 1 - Initial Consultation:
We will meet on site to discuss your ideas, vision and how you would like to use your garden and wider landscape. During this we will explore budget and confirm key design elements. A project brief will be sent as well as a fee proposal for the next stage of concept design.

Stage 2 - Concept Design:

Once we have approval of the brief we begin your concept design. This process can take around 2-3 weeks and usually involves two on-site meetings and a detailed site investigation of the property.

The landscape design will begin with sketches, CAD layout plans, 3D renderings as well as a full planting plan and schedule, perspectives, detail drawings and photographic plant appendix. This is assembled in an A3 booklet and will be presented and talked through with you. This is an open and collaborative process between designer and client, any changes and feedback will be made and a final set of plans sent through for client approval.

Stage 3 - Costing and Submissions:

This stage consists of outlining all technical and submission elements such as engineering, Building and Resource consent if needed, if you are using external sub-contractors for the construction or for further details/additional sections and elevations of the site. We may need to liaise with planing consultants or engineers if necessary for consent submissions.

If you choose to engage with SGLA construction services we will provide you with a detailed estimate/quotation pricing document based on your pre determined budget and this will be sent for approval before site works commence.

Stage 4 - Construction and Site Works:

Once construction starts on site, we will make regular site visits ensuring the design is being executed to the highest standard. Detail revisions and problem solving may be necessary at this stage due to construction related issues which can arise during building works. We liaise with you, the construction team and any sub-contractors.

Upon completion of your garden/landscape design, we can discuss any need for on going garden care ensuring healthy and thriving gardens - whether you would like to do this yourself or prefer to engage in garden maintenance services, we can help.
